Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is a great honour and pleasure as the Meeting Chair of the 4th MIPS annual meeting which will be held in Malta in December. Malta is an archipelago with a tremendously rich history which dates back to the year 5200BC. The islands have been occupied by successive rulers which included the Phoenicians, the Romans, the Normans, the Order of St. John, the French and the British. Malta became an independent country in 1964, a Republic in 1974, and a member of the European Union on the 1st of May 2004. In the first half of 2018, Valletta will be the European Capital of Culture.
